Gender, Race, Complexities of Science and Technologies
This course challenged me in many ways. Even though I was working in a technology role at my school, I do not have a formal background in technology or science and taking a course at MIT in these areas was intimidating. The course included students from local private colleges including Harvard, MIT, And BU to name a few and participating with these students in dialogue provided another opportunity to practice exchanging ideas with colleagues with different perspectives.
My final project is a curriculum unit that explores gender and technology through fiction. This project was fun to work on and the class was one of my favorites in the program. The course allowed you to explore topics that you are interested in while providing the support or guidance you need along the way. This project also influenced my final project, the The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursela LaGuin is the novel I read for this project and later made a connection with for another assignment developed for mt syntheses project.
